Menstrual health is not just a health issue— it is a cornerstone of gender equality, education, economic growth, and human dignity. Yet, over 600 million women and girls in Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs) — a staggering one in three — lack access to adequate menstrual products.

INSTEAD, THEY RELY ON IMPROVISED SOLUTIONS — LIKE TOILET PAPER AND RAGS — FOR AN AVERAGE OF 35 YEARS OF THEIR LIVES.

Markets are failing low-income customers:
at an average cost of USD23 per user per year, single-use menstrual health products are unaffordable for many.

Menstrual product innovations - specifically multiple-use products like cups, period underwear and reusable pads - can be up to 15x cheaper over the product lifetime compared to single-use pads and tampons. These are widely unavailable in most LMICs, which prevents users from accessing these cost-saving and eco-friendly solutions.

This is unacceptable. But it is also a tremendous opportunity.

An estimated 800 million women and girls in LMICs are willing and able to buy reusable menstrual products—if only they were available.

Thankfully, we know how to change this.
